Here’s my recipe for painting 28mm skeleton minis for wargaming and dioramas.
This is the combination I use for my guide on how to paint skeleton minis, Other colour combos are of course possible, this is just what I find best for the finish I prefer for my – dirty, battle-worn, undead.
Colours to use for skeletons mni figures:
- Primer: Citadel Grey Seer
- Base colour: Citadel Screaming Skull, Vallejo Ivory or Reaper Bone Shadow.
- Dark wash: Citadel Agrax Earthshade or Vallejo Sepia Wash
- Highlight: Citadel Screaming Skull or Ushabti Bone
As said, a combination of Citadel and Vallejo paints gives me the finish I prefer.
If you want a more stylized finish, a black primer can work well while using Citadel White Scar as a base, then apply a thin wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade and highlight again with White Scar.
