It’s here! I’ve been working on this for a long time and I’m really excited to announce…
What is it?
The Model Railway Engineer Book Club is an online club where members can read reviews of modelling books and learn new techniques to improve their skills and layouts by working together on mini-projects chosen from the books.
They can also share their progress and chat with other members about subjects in the books that they need more help with or don’t quite understand.
I also hope to have authors along to share further insights, arrange giveaways and competitions with publishers.
How Does It Work
On a regular basis, a book on model railways – or a closely related subject – will be chosen and reviewed. A special group has been created on Facebook just for members where they can discuss the book, vote on a topic from the book for a group build project, share their progress in its construction and discuss any points they need help with.
It’s free apart from the cost of the books, which can be purchased from a local model shop or Amazon if you don’t already have them.
How Do I Join?
It’s a simple two-step process.
- Subscribe to my email newsletter and on the preferences page, select ‘Take Part‘ from the drop-down list of options under Model Railway Book Club.(If you ever decide you want to leave the club, just visit the preferences page again and unselect your interest.)
- Nip over to Facebook and ask to join the Model Railway Book Club.
Membership is restricted to keep out spammers so answer the quick question that verifies your interest and I’ll let you in.
And that’s it! Follow the messages in the Facebook group and join in.
I’ve spent a lot of time researching this and believe it’s a unique idea that will help improve your knowledge and skills while also being fun and interesting.
