Rails of Sheffield have announced that they will be unable to supply forthcoming Hornby products.
Rails is one of the UK’s largest UK suppliers of new and second-hand model railway stock but according to an announcement on their Facebook page today (25th August 2020) their ties with Hornby have come to an end.
The statement on the company Facebook page said:
• Important Statement •
Dear Valued customer,
We regret to inform you that after over 35 years of trading with Hornby, with immediate effect we are unable to fulfil any orders for forthcoming releases or out-of-stock Hornby products.
Therefore over the coming days, we will be cancelling pre-orders and informing customers personally. We apologise unreservedly for the inconvenience this will cause you.
We would like to make it clear that this only affects Hornby products that are on pre-order or out of stock. All our other extensive range of brands are unaffected.
John Barber
Managing Director
Rails of Sheffield Limited
No reason for the split with Hornby was given although many people speculated it could be down to the decision by the company to start selling its own trains. A decision by Hattons is thought to have led to it falling out with Bachmann in 2019.
