Dapol has announced the launch of their new OO Gauge 28xx / 2884 2-8-0 locomotive model range.
The unveiling took place at the Cotswold Festival of Steam on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway.
Alongside the general release models available for pre-order through authorized Dapol Stockists, a special Dapol exclusive model of the 2874 locomotive will be produced, with a financial donation being made to The 2874 Trust for each completed sale of this model.
The collaboration between Dapol and The 2874 Trust has resulted in a distinctive model of the 2874 locomotive and showcases several notable characteristics, including the iconic Great Western Railway Green livery. The model features an original-style chimney and safety valve bonnet, port-hole windows in the top of the spectacle plate, and inside steam pipes. The Churchward 3500-gallon tender proudly displays the “Great Western” lettering.
The 28xx / 2884 locomotive model is based on the GWR prototype 2-8-0 locomotive 2800.
Dapol’s model will be available in various liveries, including Lined Great Western Green, Great Western Green, Shirt Button Green, GWR Green, BR Early Emblem Black, and BR Late Crest Black. The exclusively available Dapol model of the 2874 locomotive comes in Great Western Green livery.
Technical specifications of the locomotive model include a slide-in PCB for simple installation of a NEXT-18 DCC decoder and a tender to locomotive drawbar with electrical connections moulded within the close-coupling push-fit coupling, firebox glow (synchronised with sound on factory fitted models), electrical pick-up on all driving and tender wheels and an optional base reflex speaker can be fitted into the tender.
Prices are £189.99 for DCC Ready, £224.99 for DCC Fitted and £299.99 for DCC Sound fitted.
