An awesome technique for quickly creating landscapes

creating landscapes for model railwaysA little technique for quickly making realistic landscapes from polystyrene foam.

Realistic landscapes in model railway HO, OO and N scales can be time consuming to create and difficult to get right using normal modelling techniques.

Until now.

Here’s a simple technique to quickly create landscapes using no more than Polystyrene foam board and a blow torch.

A word of warning however, Polystyrene foam when heated in this manner produces some nasty chemicals and smoke so do this outdoors or in a very well ventilated room.

If your a working with Polystyrene form, you’ll probably find my post on glues for Polystyrene foam useful. Both posts are part of my collection of guides on building model railways which includes hundreds of tips and guides on all aspects of the hobby.

Have fun!
