Hornby releases HS2 model train

Hornby releases HS2 'Green Progressor ' HS2-inspired design model train[27th June 2023] Hornby has released the Green Progressor, a locomotive inspired by HS2, in OO gauge.

The class 66 locomotive, was rebranded GB Railfreight (GBRf) to mark the opening of the 30-acre HS2 logistics hub near Willesden Junction in London. The livery promotes the environmental benefits of delivering construction materials by rail instead of road which inspired the name, ‘The Green Progressor’, chosen by 17-year-old HS2 superfan, Jermaine Allen from Leeds.

The intention is that for every locomotive HS2 uses to transport aggregates and construction materials, up to 76 lorries are removed from the UK’s roads and motorway network.

Simon Kohler, Marketing and Development Director for Hornby, said “Hornby has always tried to be relevant when it comes to trains and locomotives and when I saw that HS2 was producing a train with GB Railfreight it was really a no-brainer.

The Hornby Green Progressor is available from Hornby here.
